STRENGTH - Be BOLD and LIVE

I just returned from a weekend retreat where a group of women worked on creative, personal and business strategy.

As part of the process we each could choose a word to take away and develop within ourselves.

I chose the word "STRENGTH" To me strength means to be bold in my painting, design and life! My new peaches painting is an example with dramatic light and darks and a strong painting.... no fear in that one.

I realized again with the help of some amazing women that I am exactly where I am supposed to be and so are you!

Thrive!

Take risks!

And most of all have fun!

Love, Cindy

Color and Light Exploration on The Finger Lakes Trail

After a spring snowfall earlier this week and some colder temperatures in the Finger Lakes, we awoke to a perfect day for a hike. John, Banks and I went to a portion of the Finger Lakes Trail in Ontario County, New York. The exercise felt wonderful, the sunlight and colors were inspiring.
What a beautiful area we live in!

A Springtime Trip to New York City... Streetscenes and Sorolla

Last weekend I traveled to New York City to give my son, Bryan a big hug. He's been working there a few months and it was time for a visit. It was a rainy spring weekend filled with Color and Inspiration. Daffodils, Umbrellas, Yellow Cabs...

Reflections of Benches and People walking their dogs.... on a Saturday morning...

Later we took the subway to Spanish Harlem to the Hispanic Society of America to see Sorolla's Vision of Spain Paintings. I would highly recommend it!

As we stood in front of these magnificent paintings,  I tried to absorb just a small amount of the brilliance!

Thanks Bryan for the wonderful weekend!

Here is a link to the museum... it was an awesome experience! http://www.hispanicsociety.org/ I hope you take the time to see it the next time you are in the city!

Enjoy Spring! Inspiration is everywhere you look!

Summer of Reconnecting... on a Deeper Level

It has been a few months since my last post.. the spring and summer flew by with lots of travel to the Adirondacks, New York City, California, New Jersey and CT. It was a summer to remember beginning with a reconnection with a best friend from college whom I hadn't seen in 28 years. She introduced me to the movie... WHO DOES SHE THINK SHE IS, A Documentary film about women balancing lives as artists and mothers. It was amazing and I encourage you to watch it. Here's the trailer.

Jane and I are on this journey now of letting go, allowing our children to leave the nest and fly on their own. This gives us the opportunity to explore the older, wiser artist within to see what she needs to say and produce.  I need other women artists through this process that relate and am grateful that the universe brought us together at this time in our lives.

This week the September sunshine in the morning has been spectacular. I have been painting my "Rose of Sharon" in my garden which is in full bloom. I love this time of the year and am really trying to be present in the moment and do the next right thing. Here are a few shots of the morning light.

Till next time. Love and Peace to you, Cindy
